Yesterday i was last of the qualified runners. Even worse than the day before. Running was still not feeling the best and additionally i did stupid mistakes. Nevertheless it was great fun running in the city of Zürich with spectators cheering on every corner.

Now i don't know exactly what to do the next weeks, but the original plan was to run Italian cup final on Sunday and Graz halfmarathon the week after. We will see how shape is going to be... |

Today i finished 34th in the Middle distance race of world cup final in Switzerland. Doesn't sound too good, but actually i had a nice race technically speaking (not sure about the route choice). But i had no power to push on the hills. Not fully recovered from being sick as it seams.
Looking forward to tomorrow, hoping for a better response from my body

Unfortunately I was not able to keep my page up to date during the week. That's why I'm posting now a short summary. After one week here in Portugal i think i can do a very positive summing-up. 3 Competitions and 14 map trainings in 7 days is very good to find the right confidence with orienteering again. I saw that I'm still missing some speed in the forest with bad runnability, but in fast forest it is quite ok. From the technical point of view, I think we did quite a good work especially with direction, a technique I had always problems with. But after 2 explicit direction trainings and a lots of runs on this kind of terrain, where a good direction is crucial, I feel very confident in my skills. I have to say thanks to Bruno Nazario for well organized trainings! I think this was a nice start into the new o-season, and I feel hungry for more orienteering (but maybe not in the next 3 days :-) . Those interested in the nice trainings we did should go on reeding. For the others I have selected some pictures in my gallery. |

1st day: Thuesday Ready for the fist trainings camp in 2008. After some problems in the end some Italian friends and I succeeded in coming to Portugal for a week of trainings. The program for the next week looks like this: Tomorrow and on Sunday we are going to take part in the 1st Internacional Trophy of Cantanhede. I'm especially looking forward to both competitions on Saturday. The middle distance WRE is going to be the first real competition since October. And of course it is always fun to do night competitions. Unfortunately i don't have that often the possibility to compete at night time. From Monday to Tuesday there will follow some days of intensive training on the nice maps around Mira. Will be a lot of fun. Until now the weather is fine, the temperatures are nice, and yesterday i got completely lost just two times in Porto (by car and without map). Hope it will be better the next days. |
