The styrian cross championships took place today in Loipersdorf a location known for the thermal baths. I took part in the main category in order to test my actual shape and in order to do a good training. But I was not the only orienteer to take part in this competition. Also Matthias Müller and the guys from HSV Pinkafeld were lined up at the start.

I tried to start at a moderate speed. Normally it is difficult for me not to overpeace in the beginning of such a competition with everyone starting at high speed. But today it worked out perfectly and i was able to speed up in the second part of the race and take some positions. I finished 3rd, 38 sec down on the winner and 20 sec down on Matthias Müller, who took a good 2nd place. Also the other orienteers performed well, Gernot Kerschbaumer was 7th and Markus Lang 8th.
I think that my physical shape is quite ok for this early moment in the season. Was nice to do a competition like this. And the spa afterwards was even better.
